9TH GRADE SEMINAR
The objective of this seminar is to provide freshman students with skills to help them be successful in high school. Study strategies such as organizational skills, time management, test preparation and other study skills will be emphasized. Tips on adjustment to high school life will be offered. Students will be given a library orientation. Suggestions on how to manage a rigorous academic schedule and maintain a healthy lifestyle will be discussed.
10TH GRADE SEMINAR
This second quarter course meets once a week and focuses on Goal Five: Personal Growth in an Atmosphere of Wise Freedom. Sophomore year is often a time when students experience more freedom and require the necessary skills to make important decisions that influence the remainder of their high school careers. Among the topics addressed are: responsible decision making; accountabilty for actions; development of self-discipline; and promotion of respect for self and others.
11TH GRADE SEMINAR
This seminar will help to guide the students through the preliminary steps for college admission. They will receive preparation for the ACT and SAT tests and also receive assistance in the college search process. This class will meet during third quarter in small goups in the counseling office. The College Counselor also meets individually with each girl and with families upon their request.
12TH GRADE SEMINAR
This fall semester class is geared to instruct students in the many areas needed for college entrance: the application process, college visits, requesting recommendations, financial aid, scholarships, etc. Additional scholarship informatin will be given throughout the year. Extensive individual counseling is done with each girl. Families interact with the College Counselor through meetings or by phone.
