Special Recognition Award

At the 2010 Alumnae Reunion Luncheon, the Alumnae Association presented Duchesne Academy Business Manager, Joan Fangman, with a Special Recognition Award. Joan has worked at Duchesne for close to thirty years. Her outstanding service was recognized by all at the Georgetowne Club on Saturday, June 5, 2010. Congratulations to Joan on your retirement. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your dedication to Duchesne.

The Duchesne Alumnae Association is honored to pay special recognition to Joan M. Fangman for 29 years of exemplary service to Duchesne Academy.

Joan joined this Sacred Heart family in 1983 as an Administrative Assistant.  Later she served as Development Director and in 1990 she was named Business Manager, a position she has held for 20 years.

In every role she filled, Joan brought an untiring energy, a commitment to doing the job right the first time and a work ethic that is incomparable.  Joan not only performed the necessary duties of her position, she faithfully kept the school in good financial standing. 

Joan’s career at Duchesne has been similar to a ride on a roller coaster.  It has been a combination of thrills and chills and, through it all, Joan has remained steadfast and unwavering in her dedication and commitment to Duchesne.  Much like a coaster ride, the school has had its ups and downs in enrollment, witnessed the ebb and flow of annual giving, celebrated the boom of the stock market and watched helplessly when it lost ground.  Throughout this ride that has lasted three decades, Joan has remained loyal, devoted and trustworthy.  Her gentle guidance and leadership has been invaluable to three Heads of School and her honest and forthright analysis has been a guiding force for board chairs and trustees.

Joan has often been heard to say, “Duchesne is very special and God has always had a plan for this truly unique and sacred place.”  We agree Joan and His plan for Duchesne most definitely included you and your many contributions to this Sacred Heart school!

Thank you for your devotion and dedication.  You will be missed, but we wish you well as you ride the coaster to a soft and gentle stop.
