Annual Drives, special events and the Capital Campaign are critical in fundraising for Duchesne. All need your financial support. Please consider them as you plan your charitable giving donations this year. Thank you for helping us bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each child.

Alumnae Drive, Parents’ Drive, Friends’ Drive - July 1 - June 30

The Annual Drives are part of the overall annual fundraising programs the Academy runs to bridge the gap between what the school collects in tuition and what the actual cost is to educate each child. Gifts to the Annual Drives go directly to the operating fund, utilities, and upkeep of our beautiful building. The drives are a vital part of the Duchesne year and contribute about 30% to Duchesne’s annual operating budget. The Annual Drives officially kick off in September. Also, don’t forget Matching Gifts. A matching gifts program is a company-sponsored benefit that doubles or even triples an employee’s gift to the school by matching his or her contribution. Be sure to see if your employer or your spouse’s employer participates in this program.

Fundraising Events

Duchesne Academy Golf Classic and Duchesne Congé (pronounced kon-jay) are part of every family’s Duchesne experience. Whether it is through your financial support of these events or through your donation of time and talent by volunteering, your participation not only benefits the school, but also guarantees that you will feel a part of this wonderful Sacred Heart community.

Congé

Each year, on the last Saturday in January, the parents, alumnae and students organize Congé, a dinner and auction, to help support the education of the young women and preschoolers of Duchesne. As a result, Congé, the French word for holiday, is one of Omaha’s oldest celebrations and fundraising dinner auctions. Duchesne Academy receives proceeds from the $10,000 raffle, live and silent auctions, dinner reservations, catalog advertising and underwriting efforts. Plan to attend Saturday, January 31, 2009.

The Golf Classic

Aside from the good time shared on the links each fall, the golf tournament is a vital part of the school’s fundraising events. Card playing fun is always a part of each tournament. Volunteer opportunities abound at this event also, so don’t be shy! For more information on participation or volunteering please call Michon Abts at 558-3800.

Capital Campaign

During the 125th anniversaryfestivities, Duchesne launched a Capital Campaign. This campaign is addressing the ongoing needs of our campus buildings, programs and curriculum to preserve Duchesne’s future for the next 125 years. By supporting this campaign and ensuring the success of this effort, you will help pledge your commitment to providing future generations of women the opportunity to experience Sacred Heart education in Omaha.
