BYLAWS OF THE DUCHESNE ACADEMY PARENT ASSOCIATION
Article I: Name
The name of the organization shall be Duchesne Academy Parent Association
Aritcle II: Purpose
The Purpose of the Duchesne Academy Parent Association shall be to further a close relationship among parents, faculty, staff, and students, and to provide, organize, and oversee specific activities as determined by the Association.
Article III: Membership
Members are all Parents and Guardians of students attending Duchesne Academy.
Article IV: Dues
Each member of the Duchesne Academy Parent Association shall be strongly encouraged to pay dues. The amount of set dues shall be determined annually by the officers. Annual dues are the primary source of funds for activities of the Association.
Article V: Officers
Section 1. Officers. The officers shall be: President, President-elect, Secretary and Treasurer
Section 2. Nominations: The nominating committee shall present a slate for the offices to be filled. The slate shall be presented at the March meeting voted upon at the following meeting.
Section 3. Term of Office. The Officers shall assume their duties at the May meeting. The term of office shall be for one (1) year.
Section 4. Duties.
a. President. The President shall act as general executive officer and shall preside at all meetings of the Association. The President shall represent the Association at various school functions; appoint chairpersons of all standing committees, and special committees. The President shall fill any vacancies on the Association
b. President-elect. The President-elect shall assist the President and shall assume the duties of the President in the absence of the President. The President-elect shall automatically be nominated to the office of the President the year following the term as President-elect.
c. Secretary. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the meetings and a list of the names and addresses of all the members of the Association. The Secretary shall conduct the general correspondence of the Association and shall notify the Association members of the meetings.
d. Treasurer. The Treasurer shall be custodian of all funds of the this Association and shall pay all bills. The Treasurer shall disburse funds upon the order of the President, receive all moneys from Associations Committees' functions, keep an accurate account of all funds, and present a record at the Association meetings.
Section 5. Vacancies. Vacancies shall be filled by the President with teh exception of the President-elect. This vacancy shall be filled by the Nominating Committee.
Article VI: Duchesne Academy Parent Association Members
Section 1. Personnel. The Duchesne Academy Parent Association shall consist of a minimum of 20 members and shall include the officers and Chairmen of the Standing Committees. The Head of School shall act as advisor to the Association.
Section 2. Duties. The Duties of the Association are to organize and oversee specific activities chosen by the Association pertaining to students, parents, facutly and staff.
Section 3. Vancancies. Vacancies shall be filled by the President.
Section 4. Meetings. There shall be a minimum of six (6) meetings per year, to be held the third Wednesday of the month.
Section 5. Quarum. A majority of the Association members present and voting shall constitute a quorum.
Article VII: Committees
Section 1. Standing Committees. The Standing Committees are those representing activities, which thea Association sponsors. They may be created or dissolved as the need indicates by the Association Officers.
Section 2. Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee shall be appointed by the President and approved by the Association. It shall consist of five (5) members: The Head of School, President-elect of the Association, three (3) parents or guardians of students. It shall present a slate of at least one candidate for each office to be filled at the March meeting, to be voted on at the following meeting.
Section 3. Parent Class Representative. The Nominating Committee shall appoint representatives from two families and guradians from each class.
Article VIII: Amendments
These Bylaws may be amended by a two thirds (2/3) vote of the members present and voting at any regular or Special Meeting, provided that previous notice of the amendment has been given to each voting member at least four (4) weeks prior of the meeting.
Article IX: Parliamentary Authority
Robert Rules of Order, Newly Revised, shall by the parliamentary authority for all matters of procedure not specifically covered by the Bylaws or specific rules or procedures by this Association.
