My name is Frances Smyth Swanson. I was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in English and Education from Trenton State College in New Jersey and earned my Master’s Degree in Secondary School Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. My work experience in education includes teaching English in Ireland, Spain and in Boston. I have also taught at Creighton Preparatory School, Metro Community College, UNO and Creighton University. I enjoy the variety of my work as a high school guidance counselor. Some of the services I provide include the following:
- Responding to the personal and emotional needs of students
- Providing resources or referrals for students and families
- Teaching the health curriculum in sophomore PE/Health class
- Teaching the sexual abstinence curriculum to freshman class
- Managing the Archdiocese of Omaha Circle of Grace curriculum
- Training peer facilitators and coordinating the Peer Facilitating Program
- Consulting with the Parent Awareness Committee to organize parent workshops
- Moderating the SADD club (Students Against Destructive Decisions)
- Moderating the DSH club (Discrimination Stops Here)
