Walnut Hill Elementary began a Chess Club mid-year last year. We have been very lucky to have an adult volunteer who has worked in the educational field and now enjoys volunteering his time to lead a Chess Club here at Walnut Hill.

The club serves our 3rd through 6th grade students.
It is held on Tuesdays, after school from 3:50 until 5:00.
Last year we had a base group of about 20 students who attended each week.

We are having the sign-up soon, with the first parent/student/school meeting on September 25th.There will be a large number of beginners, some of who have the fundamentals only, and a few more advanced players.

We are in need of volunteer chess players to help Mr. Brown address these different levels of "learners" at the Chess Club meetings on Tuesday afternoons.

To have 2 or 3 young adults who play chess, (they needn't be great players), who enjoy interacting with young children and have an hour a week they would be willing to share with us would make a huge difference in the success of this club and to the children who are involved.

If you are able to help us make this connection it would be truly appreciated.
