Foster discovery and understanding of the natural world
At Duchesne we value a Christ centered education in the sciences and technology. Students take Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as well as other science electives and IT courses. These courses challenge students to think critically and solve problems using a variety of approaches including hands on scientific inquiry and experimentation.
Duchesne's Science Department Objectives:

To educate students about scientific concepts and processes in the natural world so that they are scientifically literate and can understand, appreciate, and make wise decisions regarding the use and care of the world God created.

To foster discovery and understanding of the natural world through the processes of the scientific method where students identify problems, hypothesize, develop and perform procedures, collect data, analyze and interpret data, and communicate results.

To develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on those involving math to help solve real world problems.

To foster a love of scientific learning and to prepare our students for future science courses and professions in healthcare, engineering, and other scientific careers.
Course Requirements
Students must obtain 4 Science/IT credits. All students take Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Science Competitions
Students are invited to participate in Science Olympiad, Physics Field Day, Chemistry Field Day, and Chemistry Olympiad competitions.
