STEAM
To fulfill the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education and to prepare students for the 21st Century, Duchesne Academy commits to the use of technology as an educational tool to prepare students to live cooperatively in a global and technological society.
STEAM is curriculum-based with an interdisciplinary and applied approach to educating students across multiple disciplines that include Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Our students develop artistic, communication, intellectual, and leadership skills to solve global and humanitarian challenges that face our world.
The Duchesne Academy DREAM (Design, Research Engineering Art Media) Lab opened in the Fall of 2016. The area is designed around the maker space principles and encourages creativity, problem solving, and risktaking. It is open generally to all students 9-12. Currently, we offer 12 courses that are STEAM driven including Design Academy I and II, Digital Photography, Journalism, Yearbook, Interior Design, Robotics and Advanced Robotics, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science - A, Programming and Python, and Intro to Programming.
Duchesne has paved the way for technology integration in education and was the first Omaha school to adopt a 1:1 iPad model which incorporates technology into every class that students take.
