Zoo Academy

The mission of Zoo Academy is to provide students with knowledge and career explorations relating to life sciences through authentic STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) experiences at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium. Zoo Academy is an excellent model of forming successful collaborations between an informal science education organization and school districts.

Animal Science Pathway

The Animal Science Pathway has been developed to introduce students to a variety of wildlife careers. Students will develop basic skills and knowledge through a series of courses to help them pursue a professional career in caring for animals, veterinary science, veterinary technician, wildlife management, ecology, or conducting research on endangered species.

Conservation Research Pathway

The Conservation Research Pathway has been developed to introduce students to a variety of conservation research careers. Students will develop basic skills and knowledge through a series of courses to help them pursue a professional career in conservation biology, conservation genetics, endangered species management, habitat management, ecology, and conducting research on endangered species.

  • November 15: Student Informational Meeting via Zoom
    • Zoom meeting open to students and parents/guardians with two options to join: 9-9:30 a.m. or 2-2:30 p.m.
    • Zoom links included on Informational Meeting Invitation
  • November 30: Application Window Closes
  • December 6: Applicant Interviews via Zoom
  • December 6: Student References Due Date
