• Mrs. Kate Sommer taught English, Creative Writing, Journalism and Slam Poetry at Duchesne from 1996-2015. As a Sacred Heart educator, Kate Sommer cared more deeply about encouraging her girls to be powerful, fearless, and kind leaders than she did about ensuring that they knew where, in a sentence, to place an Oxford comma. That boundless love of and passion for girls is what made her inarguably phenomenal. We honor a senior who displayed the same love of the written word. The Kate Sommer Writing Award is merited by MISS: RALEIGH KREIS

• The Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society Award is given to the student most proficient in American History. This year the award has been merited by MISS: CAITLIN COPENHAVER

• Today we announce the recipients of a college scholarship program created by families of Duchesne alums. This program is exclusively for graduating Duchesne seniors. The Coeur de Jesu Scholarship has been created to help selected Duchesne seniors who have exhausted all merit and need-based financial aid and contribution from their families to meet the cost of attending the college/university of choice. The scholarship program is need-based but seeks high performing students. The Coeur de Jesus Scholarship helps our graduates attend the university that is the best fit for them, especially considering the planned field of study. The Coeur de Jesus Scholarship Program is one more way Duchesne donors continue to share their gifts and demonstrate their commitment to the students of Duchesne. This year’s renewable scholarships are awarded to:
