Children of Mary
We warmly invite you to join us this year for Children of Mary at Duchesne Academy. This prayerful sodality group has been a part of Sacred Heart tradition for over 200 years, starting with St. Madeleine Sophie Barat. Alum status is not necessary for membership or in order to receive the Children of Mary medal. To receive a medal, as is Children of Mary tradition, your attendance at six program presentations is required and they need not be consecutive.
Duchesne hosts our program and mass on the first Friday of each month, starting in October and continuing through May. We gather for an informal coffee hour from 9:30-10:00 am, then listen to a speaker from 10:00 to 11:00 am. We then celebrate Mass together at 11:15 am. All meetings will conclude by noon.
As many of you know, we sent out a survey at the end of last year’s programming. In response to that survey and hearing requests for more spiritual programming, we have decided that the best presenters to give us that extra spirituality are our beloved RSCJ. This year we hope to have an RSCJ present at the meetings, starting with Sr. Bridget Bearss in October. At the October meeting, we will have a final list of presenters for the year available to you.
Please mark your calendar for the 2019-2020 meetings:

The programs will be held in the Performing Arts Center. Please access Duchesne using the south entrance off of 36th and California Streets. You may park in the student parking lot; cones will mark parking spots that have been reserved for you. If Duchesne classes are canceled due to bad weather on the day of our meeting, we will not meet. Please watch for school closings.
Our annual dues will be $30.00. Each year, we give a gift to the school’s scholarship fund. We wish to express gratitude to our inactive members who continue to show interest and support the sodality through their continued membership.
Please mail your dues to Ann Tjaden (address below) or register online. The directory will be distributed at our November program presentation, so we ask that you please submit or mail your registration by October 18 if you would like your name represented in the directory.
We look forward to sharing this upcoming year of spiritual growth and deepening our Sacred Heart connection with all of you.
