Why Duchesne Preschool?
What makes Duchesne Preschool unique?
Lower Teacher-to-Student Ratios
The state of Nebraska mandates a ratio of 1 to 10 for 3-year-olds. Duchesne’s limit is 1 to 6. For 4-year-olds, the state mandates a ratio of 1 to 12. Duchesne’s limit is 1 to 7.
Duchesne Preschool requires that the lead teacher in each classroom has at least a bachelor’s degree in education. Many of the teacher assistants have an education degree as well. Duchesne Preschool’s dedicated teachers return year after year!
The Duchesne Preschool’s curriculum is based on a love of God, love for one another, and an atmosphere of peace and kindness. Faith is an integral part of the program.
The academic program includes specialist teachers in the areas of art, computer education, music, P.E., and Spanish. These age-appropriate programs integrate the preschool skills being presented in the classroom and provide introductions that set the foundation for further exploration in these areas throughout the child’s life.
Many of the Sacred Heart traditions established over the past 200 years are carried on in the preschool.
Duchesne Preschool has a certified therapy dog, Duffy. He is a loveable bichon frisé which is a non-shedding, hypo-allergenic, small but sturdy, tolerant breed who loves children. Duffy helps children who are having a rough transition to school, who are sad, or are sick. He also loves to visit the classrooms and run on the soccer field with his preschool friends.
In an effort to make drop-off and pick-up smooth, safe, and convenient for parents, the preschool provides curb service 6 times a day. Parents remain in their cars while we unload children at 2 different arrival times, and put them back into their cars at 4 different dismissal times.
Our families come from 22-26 different zip codes each year. We make a conscious effort to reach out to a wide range of families.
